Consultation begins on Recommended Peel Land Use Plan
Deadline for public/stakeholder input is October 01st, 2010

The five parties tasked with completing the Peel Watershed planning process have announced the start of public consultation on the Recommended Peel Watershed Regional Land Use Plan.

The Government of Yukon is undertaking consultation in collaboration with the First Nation of Na-cho Nyäk Dun, the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, the Vuntut Gwitchin Government and the Gwich’in Tribal Council. Public and stakeholder input will be accepted until October 1.

Interested members of the public can provide comments at public meetings held in affected communities and by telephone, fax, e-mail, or online through an interactive web forum. All comments received during the consultation process will be posted on the forum at www.peelconsultation.ca. Check the website for public meeting dates and locations.

The objective of regional land use planning in Yukon is to provide guidance to First Nation and public governments for the integrated management of lands and resources in order to ensure sustainable development and sound environmental stewardship while minimizing land use conflicts.
